So, for SCP, I've decided to interpret a certain ability of his in the game as a genuine 'power' - one that I hope does justice to both what it's actually said to do and a genuine nod towards the nature of the canon he comes from.

Endless Nine is, specifically, an extreme Magic Resistance - to the point that even 'mythical-class attacks' won't be effective. From the canon scene where it's named:

"45, understood... Huh, whaaaat...?! D-Did I... break down? Am I insane...? A-Anti-Magic Resistance Power, Endless Nine... E-Even mythical-class magical attacks won't be effective against the target!!"

Golden bow warheads could penetrate any magical armor through reciprocal corrosion. When one tried to block them with anti-magic resistance power, even eight digits were not sufficient to prevent their penetration.

By the way, even famous gods that appear in myths rarely reach as high as nine digits. For that reason, nine digits were enough to measure pretty much all sensible values. Battler had buried all 9 of those digits with nines...

And since Umineko is a canon that's basically 5 layers of meta in a trenchcoat pretending to be a single narrative, this is both an 'actual canon power' and a representation of his stubbornness towards refusing to believe 'A witch killed all of us' and striving for an answer that shows the Rokkenjima Family Massacre could have been done by human hands.

So this is all well and good, but what does it mean for SCP?

Basically, it means Battler cannot see, hear, or be affected by any magic that is shown in front of him or targeted at him. This magic still exists - the SCP world is an inherently magical place, after all - but for Battler, it's like seeing someone 'make believe' that something's there. And while you can make believe you're throwing around spells with special words, in reality, you can't be hurt by it - because you're just placing a layer of 'fantasy' on top of what you're doing. So even the strongest spell, the greatest magic...would pretty much end up doing absolutely nothing to him.

However, Endless Nine can be felt and seen by those with magical abilities - whenever it kicks on, Blue will show up somewhere on his body. If he can't see magic, his eyes will glow slightly and intensify the blue of his iris. If a magical item or spell approaches him that isn't a direct attack, his skin will gain a blue 'sheen' where it would touch him. And If he is directly attacked, a blue 'column' surrounding him will suddenly appear and block it. The feeling is of an obscenely strong magic resistant barrier - and those who can do specifics will realize humans aren't normally meant to have that level of resistance.

However, Endless Nine relies on the strength of Battler's belief in that magic doesn't exist. As such, If someone is able to convince Battler and have him accept their personal magic, then Endless Nine won't block it. This is due to the fact that 'magic' in Umineko is often 'make-believe' - and as such, only 'works' once you're in on the 'illusion.' You wouldn't tell a kid who just got a candy from someone who did the 'it's behind your ear' trick that they'd held the candy in their hand the entire time, right?

Another example would be if someone told him they were a stage or street magician, or practicing their magic tricks, and had him believe it. With that 'truth' accepted, Battler would be able to then see them summon an item to their hand, or conjure something out of thin air - because clearly, it's slight of hand, or a fancy trick done by normal human means. This is also why he accepts sci-fi concepts a lot easier - because even though sci-fi can be pretty close to fantasy, it's close enough to 'normal human concepts' like science for him to accept.

Also, while any attack Battler directly sees that comes from a magical origin will be deflected, an attack that he DOESN'T see coming can potentially pass through - if it could be explained by a logical, 'human' origin. For example - someone could lob a fireball at his back, and it would potentially go through if it resembled what happens when someone lights the stream of an aerosol fan on fire. Another would be summoning a sword while his back is turned and then stabbing him with it - because that could easily be explained with 'the person who stabbed him just hid the sword on their person when they walked in.'

And of course, Endless Nine doesn't protect from physical attacks. As long as there's no magic involved, you can punch, shank, and shoot him as much as you want.

As a final note, there's one last drawback Endless Nine has. If Battler is ever forced to accept something that goes against his beliefs - instead of coming to the conclusion that he can accept it naturally - this can end up causing a Logic Error. Logic Errors in this case are essentially a mental 'loop' that will repeat unless the loop can be broken. When in a Logic Error state, Battler basically pretty much becomes a living doll - breathing and able to obey simple commands, but blank-eyed and unresponsive otherwise, trapped in his own head until he can solve the Error that caused it. For example - a very easy Logic Error for him to be stuck in is if he ever becomes fully aware of Endless Nine. This would lead to a loop of 'I have an ability - but it relies on blocking magic - but magic isn't real - therefore I can't have an ability - but I do have one - repeat from the beginning.' This would be an easy loop to break out of, but it showcases the potential circular logic Battler can fall into without even realizing it.

AS A MAJOR SIDE NOTE- Battler can neutralize magic items if he touches them. Anything belonging to a PC will be discussed with, of course, and the neutralization can be temporary as well! But just he can end up destroying the 'magic' of items without knowing.
